IDEAL - Innovative concept for fabrication of designed functionalities on industrial components by deposition and modification of aluminium based coatings

 

 

IDEAL was an Innovation Consortium Project inanced by Danish Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. IDEAL was a consortium project between research institutions and industries to develop controlled surfaces on aluminium or aluminium based coatings for optical and corrosion resistant applications.  Danish Technological Institute is the proejct co-ordinator. 

 

The overall objective of the project was to development a generic technology platform based on aluminium based coatings deposited by physical vapour deposition (PVD) or laser cladding in combination with anodisation processes. Aim was to produce coatings with controlled optical properties, corrosion resistance, and wear applications. Project mainly has two segments: (i) environmentally friendly corrosion protection of alloyed aluminum parts, and (ii) design of durable optical effects on a wide variety of substrate materials using aluminium based plasma coatings.

 

Research work present on focus:

 

  • Effect various elements in plasma based aluminium coating on optical bahaviour.
  • Alkaline resistant aluminium surfaces using plasma based aluminium coating modified using alloying elements.
  • Alkaline resistnat aluminium surfaces by wet techniques.
  • Laser cladded aluminium coatings.
